New Releases Weekend Oct 12-14

Out this weekend, as discussed in Ep 62 of The HO:

Argo – That wily Daredevil Ben Affleck continues his career rebuilding project as he directs and stars in Argo, about the true story of Iranian militants who took 52 Americans hostage in 1979 and Tony Mendez (Affleck) who hatched the plot to rescue them…disguised as filmmakers.  The film is getting fantastic reviews and looks to be THE go-to film this weekend.  Brian’s pick of the week.

Sinister – A new horror film attempting to make a film out of some new ideas.  When a writer (Ethan Hawke) finds a box of snuff films in a house where a family was viciously murdered, he starts to learn that there could be a demon at work.  Intersting concept and it’s getting solid, but not great, reviews for a horror film.  Aaron, Justin and Scott’s pick of the week.

Here Comes the BOOM – Kevin James stars as a teacher trying to save his school by raising money through MMA fighting.  Yea.  This sounds like a Chris Farley movie 15 years ago.  Reviews are ok, not awful, and the consensus seems to be James is his usual self and if you have a family this might be a nice afternoon out.  Looks more like ‘Fat guy fall down’ from the trailers.

Seven Psychopaths – Christopher Walken, Colin Farrell, Woody Harrellson and many more come together in a story from In Bruges director Martin McDonagh about a dog napping gone horribly wrong.  Great reviews, looks like fun, only playing in half the theaters of Argo.
