Lost Girls tells the story Shannan Gilbert. It’s May 1, 2010, 4:51 am. A young woman named Shannan Gilbert calls 911, the phone call lasts 23 minutes. It’s not until a neighbor calls 911 that the police arrive, nearly an hour later. By then, Shannan Gilbert has vanished. Her mother, Mari Gilbert, is a force of nature who refuses to let her disappearance go unchecked, which leads to the discovery of several dead bodies on Gilgo Beach. In 2020, Netflix released a film titled Lost Girls, starring Amy Ryan. This movie detailed that mother’s fierce pursuit of her daughter, the mystery behind her disappearance, and the Gilgo Beach murders. This journey was Inspired by a true story.
