Weekend New Releases

warm bodiesIt’s February and you know what that means…yep, time for some zombie romantic comedies mixed with a little Stallone head bashing and maybe even a little bit of old dudes trying to stretch out their twilight years.  We went more in detail in Ep 77, but here’s the rundown of this week’s flicks.

Warm Bodies – A zombie take on Romeo & Juliet, R is a guy just trying to eat…people.  When he meets Juliet (and eats her boyfriend’s brains therefore gaining his memories), he begins to slowly get his heart back.  Yes, the love of a hot blonde will win back his soul.  Reviews have been very good thus far with 75% positive.  This was Scott and Justin’s pick of the week.

Bullet To the Head – Sly Stallone stars as a hitman who teams up with a DC cop to bring down Jason Mamoa (Game of Thrones),  who killed both of their partners.  Yes, it’s every buddy action pick from the 80’s.   Directed by 80’s action director Walter Hill, the flick has 45% positive reviews, better than most flicks of this type and the flick is set to do better than Statham or Schwarzenegger’s most recent films.  This was Aaron’s pick of the week.

Stand Up Guys – Al Pacino is a mob guy just released from prison, who teams up with his old boys Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin…until he gets the word he has to kill one of them.  The guys decide to have a little more fun before this party is ended.  Hijinks and depends ensue.  At 33% positive, with actors of this caliber, the force is not strong with this one.  Still, great actors can raise even the poorest material so you never know.  This was Brian’s pick of the week.

That’s it for this week, if you want to hear about next week’s releases, be sure to listen to our all new HO, Episode 78 – Ho Hunters!
