Blu Ray / DVD New Releases

Newly out on Blu Ray / DVD:

The Cabin in the Woods: 5 friends go to a remote cabin for a little getaway, when everything goes awful.  If you think you’ve seen this story a thousand times before, this time you’d be way off.  Avengers’ Joss Whedon & Drew Goddard come together to give you something new. All 4 of us gave it high marks when it was released earlier this year and it earned a 91% positive reviews score. But most importantly, WE gave it high marks.  Check out our review below or on Ep 38 of The HO.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel: A group of British retirees decide to pool together and buy a palace in India, where the economy is cheaper, to live out their days.  Though it isn’t what they thought, the group starts to see their eyes opened and lives changed with their new Marigold Hotel.  Good reviews at 77% positive and was an indie hit.  If you like independent dramas, and you’re 86 years old, it sounds like a good bet.

Katy Perry: Part of Me: Katy Perry takes you on her latest tour and lets you inside her private life.  Typical concert / behind the scenes film, but did also get 77% positive reviews.  On home video, it’s not Katy Perry in 3D, so there goes your teenage boy demographic.

Other Notable Releases:

The Babymakers: When he finds out he’s now shooting blanks, a guy recruits his buddys to help him steal his old sample from a sperm bank in order to knock her up.  Hilarity ensues.

Detachment – Adrien Brody as a lost and empty teacher who finds soulmates in his students.  Sounds like a sad episode of Law & Order.

Hawaii Five-0 Season 2 – We don’t know why, but this show kicks some ass. And all the poeple in it are pretty.

Modern Family Season 3 – Still one of the funniest shows on TV.  This is what real familes look like.

Supernatural Season 7 – Our own Justin Macumber LOVES this show.  After 7 years, he can’t be all wrong…
