Interview with Director Eric England | Get The Girl

Get the Girl stars Justin Dobies as Clarence, a wealthy young man in love with a local bartender named Alexandra (Elizabeth Whitson). Unfortunately, Elizabeth is oblivious to Clarence, and repeatedly dates men beneath her standards. Desperate to win her affections, Clarence decides to do what any rational man would do and hires Patrick (Noah Segan) to kidnap Elizabeth, showcasing Clarence as the white knight who can sweep in and save her life. But when Elizabeth shows that she’s no damsel and ends up brutally murdering one of the kidnappers in self-defense, that when our story takes a very dark, disturbing, and hilarious turn.

Get the Girl continues director Eric England’s (Contracted) foray into taking a seemingly rote genre piece, and turning on its ear. For our exclusive interview, Eric discusses what inspired him to put this spin on the genre, how his path ended up in Hollywood, why this was the perfect cast for this material, and where he hopes his career takes him next. A very engaging interview with a talent on-the-rise, don’t miss our in-depth discussion with director, Eric England.

In GET THE GIRL, a wealthy young man is conned into staging a fake kidnapping in order to be a hero and win the affection of a girl he’s madly in love with. But when one of the hired kidnappers is accidentally killed during the charade, he’s forced to actually save her life while not revealing that it’s been a ruse all along.
